Overview
HTA is exploring new strategies to improve data collection and research. With improved evidence-based data, AA&NHPI communities will be better prepared to fight for increased resources that will aid AA&NHPI children, adults, and families.

Health Brain Trust on Data & Research
Overview
The Health Brain Trust on Data & Research is an annual meeting of select individuals, organized around a specific topic related to Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AA&NHPI) communities. A diverse group of researchers, advocates, health professionals, public health officials, community members, and other leaders gather for the two-day conference, bringing different perspectives to a focused topic.

2008 - Community Based Participatory Research (CBPR)
Detailed information about the proceedings and PowerPoint presentations of the Health Brain Trust on Data & Research 2008 can soon be accessed here. The following is a short synopsis of the second Health Brain Trust.

The second Health Brain Trust convened on May 1-2, 2008 in Houston, Texas. The purpose of the meeting was: to discuss the barriers for researchers and communities in conducting community based participatory research (CBPR) with AA&NHPI populations; to identify strategies for researchers and communities to overcome such barriers; and to overall forward the agenda to increase participation and action of researchers, communities, policy makers, and funders on CBPR among AA&NHPI.

The first forum was held April 30 - May 1, 2007 in Washington, DC with the following aims: to deepen the understanding of AA&NHPI health data and research issues; to develop new frames for AA&NHPI health data, research, and the concept of health disparity; to explore different levers for change; and to recommend an agenda for change. The four main areas of presentations and discussions were:

Kaiser Fact Sheets
The Henry J. Kaiser Family Foundation regularly publishes fact sheets on a wide range of issues. Health Through Action is collaborating with the foundation to update the publications concerning AA&NHPI health and health care.

Health Through Action is supporting a book to be published by NYU on AA&NHPI health and health care issues.
