Gayle Tang
Gayle Tang, as senior director, oversees several distinct functions which include National Linguistic & Cultural Programs, Institute for Culturally Competent Care, National Latino Business Strategy, and Diversity Infrastructure Groups. Together, these functions pioneer innovations in strategic diversity management, systems and infrastructure design, culturally & linguistically competent care, and workforce development, all with a shared goal towards eliminating health disparities, promoting quality and health equity.
Gayle has been instrumental in leading visionary change that has influenced quality standards and model practices in the industry, and has been recognized for her exceptional leadership in the community and at the national level. She is the principal architect of the award-winning Health Care Interpreter Certificate Program, Qualified Bilingual Staff Model, Clinician Cultural & Linguistic Assessment - a Language Concordance Initiative, and National Standardized Quality Translation Initiative. At the community level, Gayle has dedicated years to social justice and advocacy; and has served on boards to address immigrant, racial, ethnic, and sexual orientation issues/rights.
Ms. Tang completed undergraduate studies in nursing at the University of San Francisco and received her master of science in nursing with a focus on leadership and diversity from Sonoma State University. She is also a part-time faculty at City College of San Francisco.
