Capacity for Health (C4H), the national capacity building program of the Asian & Pacific Islander American Health Forum (APIAHF), is searching for an Experience Assistant.

C4H is a national capacity building program founded in 1993 by APIAHF. We come from communities of service providers, nonprofits, health departments, and healthcare organizations. We imagine new possibilities for operating successful organizations and public health programs—drawing upon innovation and best practices—and then make them real. We aspire to empower our clients with the tools to build healthier communities on the local, regional, and national level.
APIAHF influences policy, mobilizes communities, and strengthens programs and organizations to improve the health of Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AA and NHPI) populations. Our values are respect, fairness, equity and health justice for all. Founded in 1986, we advocate on issues critical to the health and well-being of our diverse and vibrant communities. We approach our work with the philosophy of coalition-building and developing capacity both for AAs and NHPIs and in partnership with diverse racial/ethnic communities. We’re looking for an Experience Assistant to join our team in Oakland, CA. As an Experience Assistant, you will support dynamic and creative team as we strive to scale our service design practice and business. This position reports to the Senior Managing Director.
Your day-to-day might look something like:
Maintaining the C4H History and Narrative: Documenting the creative processes, decisions, and insights of the team as they design and deliver capacity building work. Also, organizing and maintaining data files and folders that will document our work and inform our own quality improvement.
The Money Gatekeeper: You’ll be an expert on agency and C4H financial and administrative policies and procedures, and be on hand to assist staff in navigating forms, reimbursements, etc.
Travel Coordinator: You assist the team by arranging travel related top consulting and training delivery, troubleshooting as needed.
Team Cheerleader: You’ll be a driver in ensuring team cross-pollination, fun, and socialization. Your work with leadership to design fun and engaging branch-wide learning and social activities.
Public Point of Contact: You’ll intake and manage any mail, telephone and email correspondence and inquiries.
You have at least a Bachelor’s Degree
At least 1-2 years’ experience in similar role
You can demonstrate tech savviness via your mastery of diverse software solutions, and can quickly adapt to new technologies--particularly related to productivity
You can demonstrate great attention to and recall of details
You’re proficient in PC and Mac OS and iOS environments
You have experience and success in working with diverse communities, including communities of color, and LGBT populations
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
This position will embody the program's values of entrepreneurship, innovation, expertise, continuous improvement, and optimism. We’re looking for someone with natural intellectual curiosity and flexibility. We want someone who thrives in constant change, follows through quickly, and requires little direction. Experience in health administration, public health, public administration, nonprofit management, or related field. Experience working in or with state health departments or clinical care providers.
