Critical Issues
In its first two years, the Institute broadly addressed prevention,
intervention, research and policy issues. Subsequently, we have
focused on critical issues affecting our communities and hence the
need to link prevention, intervention, research and policy rather
than compartmentalize them. We also want to integrate community
organizing, innovative strategies, community accountability and
collaboration, leadership and capacity development into our Critical
Issues Model.
We have identified some critical issues and offer our analysis
about them here. Some of these topics are better developed than
others; they are all works-in-progress. Some of these critical issues
are the focus of collaborative efforts and some have been developed
by other organizations.
