This brief provides an overview of demographic characteristics, socioeconomic status, and health care coverage of Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders living in the United States. We focus on established social determinants of health, especially as they concern immigrants, such as education, income, nativity and citizenship, language use and proficiency, and health insurance coverage. This report uses the most recent national data available as of June 2011, the 2010 decennial Census and the 2007-2009 American Community Survey (ACS).
