Position: Research Associate, 1.0 FTE (37.5 hours/week)

APIAHF's Research Program is seeking to increase the capacity to conduct more data and research throughout the U.S. and U.S. affiliated jurisdictions, particularly for Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander (AA and NHPI) populations. APIAHF advocates for greater recognition, inclusion and engagement of AAs and NHPIs on policies, programs, and research that are critical to the health and well-being of these diverse and vibrant communities. APIAHF has five departments: Health Through Action, Chronic Disease, HIV, Domestic Violence, and Policy Division. The Research Associate, under the direction of the Senior Research Associate, will be principally responsible for data collection, data management, and analysis across projects that focus on AA and NHPI populations. Duties of this position include, but are not limited to, development and implementation of research/evaluation, management and analysis of data from APIAHF projects including coordination/monitoring of data, data collection and entry, database cleaning, and reporting.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Coordinate and manage data across APIAHF projects, data collection and entry, data merging and cleaning, bivariate/ multivariate analysis, qualitative analysis, and data reporting;
• Develop project reports and document progress, including but not limited to data analysis, summarizing findings, and developing charts/tables.
• Conduct Internet and library literature reviews and maintain health literature and data databases of articles, data, and resources.
• Conduct research presentations at meetings and conferences.
• Assist in research proposal development.
• Provide technical consultation, technical assistance and training in areas of data collection, research and evaluation;
• Convene in-person and web-based meetings, workshops, and trainings;
• Attend and assist with all agency meetings, events, and functions as required;
• Travel for work-related meetings and events as necessary;
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
• Graduate degree in health related field or equivalent experience in health, behavioral science or related fields required.
• Two years of community health research experience including two years experience in quantitative and qualitative data collection and analysis required.
• Two years research/evaluation and data analysis skills required. Experience in intermediate statistical data analysis using SPSS or SAS required.
• Demonstrated proficiency with Windows-based computer programs, including work processing, database management, email, and online research
• Demonstrated effective written and oral communication skills
• Demonstrated excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
• Strong initiative, creativity and motivation, including ability to work under pressure with deadlines
• Demonstrated experience working effectively in team environment
• Ability to travel as part of work responsibilities
Desired Qualifications:
• Master's Degree in biostatistics or epidemiology preferred.
• Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of AA and NHPI community health issues required.
• Bilingual/Biliterate in an Asian or Pacific Islander language
