Position: Research Assistant, 1.0 FTE (37.5 hours/week)
Location: San Francisco, CA
Salary: DOE, excellent fringe benefits

The Research Assistant, under the supervision of the Research and Data Manager, will be assisting with data collection, data management, and analysis across projects that focus on AA and NHPI populations. Duties of this position include, but are not limited to, planning and implementation of research/evaluation, management and analysis of data from APIAHF projects including assisting with coordination/monitoring of data, data collection and entry, database cleaning, and reporting.

APIAHF's Research Program is seeking to increase the capacity to conduct more data and research throughout the U.S. and U.S. affiliated jurisdictions, particularly for Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander (AA and NHPI) populations.

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Conduct data collection and entry, data merging and cleaning, quantitative analysis, qualitative analysis, and data reporting;
• Assist in the development of project reports and document progress, including but not limited to data analysis, summarizing findings, and developing charts/tables;
• Conduct Internet and library literature reviews and maintain health literature and data databases of articles, data, and resources;
• Assist in research proposal development;
• Assist in organizing and convening in-person and web-based meetings, workshops, and trainings;
• Attend and assist with all agency meetings, events, and functions as required;
• Travel for work-related meetings and events as necessary;
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in health related field or equivalent experience in health, behavioral science or related fields required;
• Two years of community health research experience including two years experience in quantitative and qualitative data collection and analysis required;
• Demonstrated proficiency with Windows-based computer programs, including work processing, database management, email, and online research;
• Demonstrated effective written and oral communication skills;
• Demonstrated excellent interpersonal and organizational skills;
• Strong initiative, creativity and motivation, including ability to work under pressure with deadlines;
• Demonstrated experience working effectively in team environment;
• Ability to travel as part of work responsibilities.

Desired Qualifications:
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in public health;
• Experience in statistical data analysis using SPSS or SAS;
• Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of AA and NHPI community health issues;
• Bilingual/Biliterate in an Asian or Pacific Islander language.

We advocate on health issues of significance to AA and NHPI communities, conduct community-based technical assistance and training, provide health data analysis and information dissemination, and convene regional and national health conferences.
