Going beyond the basics, this webinar will offer a practical and effective approach to understanding and managing the complexity of safety-planning for victims and survivors of domestic violence. It will focus on risk analysis and assessing for lethality of situation as critical steps in developing a safety plan. The webinar will also include special considerations for safety-planning for Asian battered women, such as the presence of multiple perpetrators in the home.

Presenter: Dr. Jei Africa

Dr. Jei Africa is currently the Health Disparities Initiatives Manager at the Behavioral Health and Recovery Services (BHRS) Division of the San Mateo County Health Department. In this role she provides leadership and guidance to promote effective and culturally responsive services into the core functioning of County health services.

Jei is a licensed clinical psychologist and a certified addiction treatment counselor. She is a highly regarded consultant and teacher in the area of mental health, domestic violence, substance abuse, cultural competence and diversity. She also maintains a private psychotherapy practice in San Bruno. Previously, she was the Clinical Director at Community Overcoming Relationship Abuse (CORA) and Manager of Youth Treatment Services at Asian American Recovery Services (AARS).
