Voices: Amplifying the Call for Healthy Communities, will take place June 1-2, 2009 in Arlington, Virginia. Using APIAHF's Blueprint for the Health of Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians and Pacific Islanders as a guide, the conference looks to engage participants to influence system changes that will result in improved health and well-being.

We will examine opportunities to impact healthcare reform at both the national and state levels, expand and enhance our national community networks and look to strengthening skills both in health advocacy and health programming. The policy focus makes this year's Voices conference unique from prior gatherings. As we move forward this year with a new Administration and Congress, where health care reform and economic recovery are our top priorities, we need to ensure that our voices and the voices of our constituencies are heard, and that policymakers are informed about the needs and assets of our communities.

The conference will consist of four plenary sessions focusing on health care coverage, quality of care, health equity and the development of leadership at all levels, from community to policy makers.

Each plenary will host a panel of speakers from diverse perspectives and will include the voices of policy makers, think tanks, advocacy organizations and community-based organizations. Also unique to this conference are the format of these plenaries, which will include townhall and table top discussions. We look forward to your participation!
