Access to Health Care

email print

Our health care system is broken, and Americans are struggling to keep up with out of control medical costs. Like most Americans, Asian Americans, Pacific Islanders, and Native Hawaiians feel the pain of this broken system. Nationally, more than one in five of us are uninsured and even more are underinsured.

The cost of attaining health care should not be a barrier or deterrent to receiving necessary health care. Individuals should have guaranteed affordable health care coverage that is comprehensive with a mix of options.

The push to provide affordable quality care is coming from the ground up, across the entire health care system. Doctors, nurses, patients, businesses, hospitals, health care providers, community groups and policymakers from both sides of the aisle at the national, state and local levels agree that we must modernize our system. During the White House Summit on Health, President Obama made it clear that providing affordable quality health care for all Americans is a priority. We must take this opportunity to ensure that all Americans, not just some, get the care they need.
