SAN FRANCISCO - The Asian & Pacific Islander American Health Forum (APIAHF) applauds President-Elect Barack Obama's nomination of Dr. Steven Chu to be United States Secretary of Energy. Dr. Chu's impressive qualifications, immense experience and global vision will help chart a new course for a U.S. energy policy and programs that will improve the health and economic well being of Americans and the global community.
APIAHF has valued Dr. Chu's leadership in the scientific community and within Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander communities. Dr. Chu keynoted the 2005 APIAHF Food For Thought event in San Francisco. APIAHF shares his perspective that in order for scientific research - whether on health or energy - to be successfully conducted, the diverse and unique experiences of the targeted population need to be included in any evaluation. APIAHF proudly extends its congratulations and best wishes to Dr. Chu and his family on this historic nomination.
APIAHF is a national advocacy organization dedicated to promoting policy, program, and research efforts to improve the health and well-being of Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander communities.
