Filipino Community Cancer Collaborative

email print

The Filipino Community Cancer Collaborative (FCCC) includes individuals from American Cancer Society, Asian & Pacific Islander American Health Forum, California Health Collaborative, National Cancer Institute's Cancer Information Service, Seton Medical Center, University of California, San Francisco Comprehensive Cancer Center, University of California, San Francisco School of Nursing, and West Bay Pilipino Multi-Services Center, along with Filipino community members.

The mission of the FCCC is to empower the community through culturally responsive cancer related education and outreach programs. Due to cancer being the second leading cause of death in Filipinos, FCCC's current strategic plan is to increase Bay Area Filipino community awareness about breast, cervical, colorectal and prostate cancer prevention and screening.

FCCC produced a Filipino Cancer Education Resource Catalog, which provides a summary of cancer screening/early detection, healthy lifestyle, Hepatitis B, and community resources for the Filipino community in the Greater Bay Area/San Francisco. This project was generously funded by the Asian American Network for Cancer Awareness, Research, and Training (AANCART) through the San Francisco Bay Area Cancer Awareness Activity Mini-Grant.
