APIAHF

For Immediate Release
March 19, 2012

Washington, D.C. – Today, the Asian & Pacific Islander American Health Forum (APIAHF) kicked off a week-long celebration of the second anniversary of the Affordable Care Act (ACA). The ACA was an historic achievement and makes considerable investments in our nation’s health care infrastructure. In the two years since the ACA was enacted, millions of individuals, including Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians and Pacific Islanders (AAs and NHPIs), have already benefited from the ACA’s expanded access to affordable health insurance and consumer protections.

To celebrate this landmark law, APIAHF’s homepage will feature personal stories this week from AA and NHPI community members from around the nation, demonstrating the profound impact the ACA is already having on our communities. View the full collection of “Health Reform is Important to Me” community stories here.

Last year, APIAHF worked with community-based organizations from around the nation who organized Happy Birthday ACA parties in 23 cities to thank elected officials for passing health reform. This year, APIAHF created an ACA Turns 2 packet. The packet includes a number of resources including factsheets, sample talking points and sample social media messages tailored to AA and NHPI communities. APIAHF is also organizing an ACA Birthday Challenge, open to all partners – old and new. For more information on the ACA Birthday Challenge and how your organization and community can get involved, please visit our ACA Turns 2! page.
