Rebecca Spence
Reproductive Justice Fellow
Rebecca Spence, JD, MPH, is the reproductive justice fellow—a program of Law Students for Reproductive Justice—at the Asian & Pacific Islander American Health Forum (APIAHF), a national health justice organization which influences policy, mobilizes communities, and strengthens programs and organizations to improve the health of Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders.
Rebecca is based in the Washington, D.C. office where her work includes health care reform implementation and HIV/AIDS policy.
Prior to joining APIAHF, Rebecca was a law clerk in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia. During law school she founded the Maryland Law Students for Reproductive Justice and worked as a part of the Human Rights and Law team at the United Nations Joint Programme for HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS) in Geneva, Switzerland. She also has experience advocating for issues affecting women and families such as the legalization of midwives, mental health law reform, and early childhood education.
Rebecca holds a law degree from the University of Maryland School of Law, and an MPH from the University of Virginia. She earned her undergraduate degree in Religion and Women's Studies at Vassar College.
