Annual Immigrant Rally and Advocacy Day
Immigrants are a vital part of the cultural and economic fabric of our state, helping to make California the sixth largest economy in the world. On May 23, 2005, APIAHF endorsed and attended the California's 9 th Annual Immigrant Rally and Advocacy Day at the steps of the State Capital in Sacramento. The day's theme was Celebrating California's Immigrant Legacy. The event was well–attended by approximately 900 participants of diverse ethnic backgrounds and age groups, all of whom spoke in a unified voice in support of immigrant communities and working families. Health Forum staff also had the opportunity to attend legislative visits, observe State Assembly hearings, and tour the capitol building.
