Conference on Increasing Diversity in the Health Professions
Increasing the diversity of California's health workforce is an important strategy to improve the health of underserved populations in our state. Health professionals who speak the language and understand the culture of the communities they serve increase access to services and enhance the quality of care provided. Therefore, ensuring a diverse and competent health care workforce is a priority area for APIAHF. It is also a priority for The California Wellness Foundation (TCWF), a funding agency of APIAHF. On June 9, 2005, APIAHF staff attended the TCWF Conference on Increasing Diversity in the Health Professions in Costa Mesa, CA. The conference provided APIAHF staff with a forum to share experiences, learn from colleagues and network with other professionals engaged in health workforce diversity.
