Re: National Healthcare Disparities Report
Dear Ms. Siegel:
In reponse to the AHRQ invitation to nominate measures and candidate data sets for including in the National Healthcare Disparities Report (Federal Register, June 5, 2002), we would like to submit the following:
- California Health Interview Survey - Source: UCLA Center for Health Policy Studies
- Chinese American Psychiatric Epidemiological Study (CAPES) - Source: David T. Takeuchi
- Filipino American Community Epidemiological Study (FACES) - Source: David T. Takeuchi
- 2001 Health Care Quality Survey - Source: The Commonwealth Fund
The Asian & Pacific Islander American Health Forum (the Health Forum) is a national organization dedicated to promoting policy, program and research to improve the health status of all Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders (AAPI). Since our founding in 1986, we have consistently advocated for better collection, analysis and dissemination of AAPI health data. As you know, many federal data sets are inadequate for characterizing the health status of Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians and other Pacific Islanders.
We commend AHRQ for recognizing the need to supplement federal data sets in order to produce a meaningful National Healthcare Disparities Report to Congress.
Should you need additional information, please contact me at the address below. Thank you for your consideration.
Sincerely,
