The Asian & Pacific Islander American Health Forum (APIAHF) influences policy, mobilizes communities, and strengthens programs and organizations to improve the health of Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AA and NHPI) populations. Our values are respect, fairness, equity, and health justice for all. Founded in 1986, we advocate on issues critical to the health and well-being of our diverse and vibrant communities. We approach our work with the philosophy of coalition-building and developing capacity both for AAs and NHPIs and in partnership with diverse racial/ethnic communities. APIAHF is based in San Francisco and has an office in Washington, DC, which focuses on policy and communications.
Position Summary:
Provides administrative and coordination support to the Engagement Branch projects which includes but not limited to: the Asian & Pacific Islander National Cancer Survivors Network (APINCSN), Racial Equity Initiative (REI), Strategies to Research and Implement the Vision of Health Equity (STRIVE - REACH) Project, and the Health Through Action for Children and Families Initiative (HTACF).
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide coordinated logistical support for travel, trainings, meetings, webinars, teleconferences, and events.
- Work with staff on designing, editing, and completing various reports, health briefs, and publications (e.g. e-newsletters, wiki alerts, funder reports, etc.).
- Support the Engagement Branch’s communication activities including -social media, projects’ webpages, mailings, and in person communication needs.
- Support the development, implementation, and evaluation of program planning activities (i.e. meeting agendas, minutes, work plans, etc.)
- Maintain and update databases to track and monitor activities for all projects.
- Assist in the coordination of agency-wide special initiatives for the Engagement Branch.
- Provide assistance to agency administration as needed.
Required Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree or 3 years of health related work experience.
Skills, knowledge and abilities:
* Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
* Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
* Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and internet applications in a Windows environment.
* Meet deadlines and work efficiently in a busy environment.
* Demonstrated effective written and oral communication skills.
* Strong motivation and adaptability, including ability to work with little supervision.
Desired Qualifications:
- More education than a Bachelor’s degree in a health related field.
- Bilingual in an Asian or Pacific Islander language.
- Public health experience working with community partners (i.e. coalitions, CBOs, health departments, etc).

- Attends APIAHF and Board of Directors meetings, when required.
