The Impact of Health Care Reform

The enactment of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act on March 23, 2010 set the foundation for historic changes to our country’s health care system. In addition, health reform will help lower costs and improve the quality of health care by creating new competitive health insurance markets and improving the coordination of care for people with chronic conditions. The law also expands initiatives to increase racial and ethnicity diversity in the health care professions, and requires health plans to communicate to consumers in way that they understand.
