Lucianne Latu was eight years old in 1987 when she was diagnosed with osteogenic sarcoma (bone cancer) in Auckland, New Zealand. Despite losing her right leg to cancer in 1987, Luci refuses to let that minor "physical limitation" slow her down.
Currently, she works as a Patient Services Assistant for the County of San Mateo - Behavioral Health and Recovery Services. She conducts community outreach and education on breast cancer, diabetes, and mental health. She is also the Project Manager of Taulama for Tongans ‘ Breast Cancer Awareness for Tongans Project. Her personal story of courage and conquering adversity is an inspiration to others. Her cancer survivorship story was shared in APIAHF’s A Book of Hope.
