A PIAHF provides assistance both with supporting Health Departments to improve the implementation of HIV prevention community planning, as well as in developing Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander leaders to be involved in HIV community planning groups (CPGs) and be effective when “at the table”. APIAHF’s development of best practice guides, manuals and trainings focus on improving parity, inclusion and representation of communities of color in HIV prevention community planning. In addition, APIAHF staff has many years of combined experience serving on CPGs themselves, enabling them to provide Health Departments with guidance around various topic areas from Robert’s Rules of Order to developing a prioritized list of target populations.
FOR HEALTH DEPARTMENTS
APIAHF staff has a combined 9 years of experience as members of community planning groups, which gives us a unique perspective to help support Health Departments in improving their implementation of HIV prevention community planning.
In our over 10 years of experience providing community planning related capacity building assistance, APIAHF has developed curricula and offered trainings which include the following:
What you can expect:
As capacity building assistance providers, APIAHF staff is dedicated to assisting Health Departments that seek to improve their implementation of the community planning process. Through our partnership, we aim to address your community planning group’s immediate needs, provide appropriate capacity building assistance and leave you with increased knowledge and skill to address similar issues in the future.
Our Values:
Respect, trust, integrity and confidentiality are core values that drive our client-centered relationship and work together. Due to the nature of sensitive information exchange in the capacity building process, we make every effort to incorporate the highest degree of confidentiality. We do not use or share client information for any purpose other than that which is directly related to the capacity building process and expect that all involved parties will take the necessary steps to ensure that their agents, employees and consultants similarly adhere to our standards of confidentiality and core values.
We intend to foster and maintain comfortable and productive working relationships between health departments, community planning group members, capacity building assistance providers and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
How we work:
For each capacity building engagement, APIAHF commits to the following:
