Liza Laguana-Merrill
Liza Laguana-Merrill is the Chamorro Outreach Specialist/Event Coordinator at Asian Pacific Community in Action (APCA) in Phoenix, Arizona. She has planned and organized the biggest gathering of Chamorros in the State of Arizona for the past 10 years. She serves as a Commissioner on the Pacific Rim Advisory Council, Human Relations Commission and the Phoenix Women's Commission.
She continues to attend trainings and workshop that will help develop her leadership and public speaking. Guam Comunicaitons Network , APCA and Susan G. Komen for the Cure, Phoenix affiliation have trained Liza to be a Lay Health Advisor and speaker on breast cancer. She has trained other women to Outreach to the Chamorro community in Arizona and assists in providing continuing education for all the Lay Health Advisors of APCA.
She has also started supporting other staff members at APCA when outreaching to Asian Americans in Maricopa County, Arizona. She is passionate about outreaching to Arizona's AA and NHPI communities not only about Cancer but other health issues as well. She became an APINCSN National Advisory Council member, January 2012.
