SUMMARY
This report provides understanding of health and wellness needs of Asian and Pacific Islander lesbian, bisexual, transgender, questioning, and WSW (Women Who Have Sex with Women) communities in the New York Metropolitan Area. It contains quantitative and qualitative data and findings, with important recommendations. Methodology of this needs assessment was conducted through self-administered surveys and two focus groups. Inclusion in the study was determined by the following factors: a) self-identification as Asian or Pacific Islander, and b) residency in the New York City metropolitan area. Results were found in several areas addressed by the needs assessment: characteristics of respondents, characteristics important in dates and relationships, perceived health status, health care utilization, considerations when choosing a health care provider, and satisfaction of health care provider.
