The Asian & Pacific Islander Women's HIV/AIDS National Network (APIWHANN) was formed in 1998 by a group of concerned Asian & Pacific Islander women. Since then, APIWHANN has done the following: held monthly teleconferences, met in-person bi-annually, conducted groundbreaking focus groups with Asian & Pacific Islander women on the topic of HIV/AIDS and health seeking behaviors, and presented at national HIV/AIDS conferences and meetings. Our teleconference calls are funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and we are staffed and supported by the Asian and Pacific Islander American Health Forum (APIAHF). We have accomplished a great deal with limited resources, and there is still much work to be done.
