Title: Program Manager

Position Summary

The Program Manager has a significant role in the overall management of programs and services. This role has primary responsibility for day-to-day management of at least one federal cooperative agreement to provide capacity building assistance to community-based organizations. This role also provides capacity building assistance and training to community partners in the topics, including but not limited to, COVID-19, HIV, vaccinations, mental health, TB, health and nutrition, rare diseases, cancer etc. The Program Manager will manage all activities of this project including planning, coordinating, administering, and evaluating projects, processes, procedures, systems, and activities and is responsible for staying informed on funder guidance, requirements, and recommendations.  

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain an internal programming evaluation plan to track, analyze, and report program progress and efficacy;
  • Oversee the creation and organization of media outreach tools and social media engagement for program promotion;
  • Provide oversight to consultants and their deliverables related to the program;
  • Design methods to monitor progress towards project goals and objectives;
  • Develop integrated work plans to establish, manage, and report key milestones and deliverables;
  • Monitor implementation of individual programs through day-to-day coordination;
  • Engage in ongoing communication about program progress, including successes and challenges, with supervisor and other stakeholders, both internal and external;
  • Practice basic non-profit program budget monitoring;
  • Manage, support and recruit external consultants and/or contractors;
  • Convene meetings, conferences, and teleconferences among constituents, advisory committees, and government agencies in accordance to work plans;
  • Oversee the startup of projects, scope and design new programs, processes, initiatives, and partnerships;
  • Synthesize program proposals, abstracts, and executive summaries;
  • Draft and design key documents, reports, presentations, and other communication materials for a variety of purposes and audiences;
  • Present and participate in national, state, and local forums, panel discussions, workshops, seminars, and other activities at conferences and events;
  • Responsible for all monitoring, evaluation and reporting related to each of the individual grant requirements; and, 
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience in health, behavioral science, nonprofit management, or related fields; or five years of related work experience;
  • Minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience in increasing levels of responsibility and authority in managing multiple programs and grants, including but not limited to, monitoring and compliance, program evaluation, and capacity building.

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

  • Ability to write for professional publications (e.g., research, facilitate, guide, reporting, handouts, correspondences, etc.);
  • Experience or familiarity with field data collection and research methods;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of health disparities and the social determinants of health, inclusive of issues across impacted communities and AANHPI populations;
  • Excellent communication skills (written, verbal and visual presentation); 
  • Demonstrated experience in managing multiple program budgets and contracts;
  • Ability to collect/analyze data to make effective program leadership decisions;
  • Strong organizational and attention to detail;
  • Proficient in PC and Mac environments and Microsoft Office Suite; and, 
  • Knowledge of AANHPI health and policy issues, community planning and organizing, community empowerment, and capacity building, both locally and nationally, as well as the implications of national and local politics on AANHPI communities.

Desired Qualifications

  • Master’s degree or equivalent experience in health, behavioral science, nonprofit management, or related fields;
  • Previous program management/experience and a minimum of 2 years direct experience within community-based organizations, health departments, and/or public health planning groups;
  • Proficient with web-based collaboration platforms and information management portals; and, 
  • Direct experience in developing and implementing capacity building programs and strategies related to health system strengthening.

Additional Requirements

  • Domestic travel for this role may average 20%.
