Interim Chief Financial Officer

Jake is an experienced Accounting Manager with 20 years working in the non-profit industry, with over 12 of them being financial services industry. He works for Marcum, LLP in the nonprofit and social sector industry. He joined the Firm (as Raffa) in 2015 as a Senior Accountant and has since been promoted to Senior Manager. In his role, Jake serves as the main interface for clients, assisting in month-end closings, audit preparation, financial consolidation, financial analysis and reporting, maintaining internal controls, managing cash flows, and overseeing staff. 

Prior to joining Marcum, Jake acted as a Finance Manager and Controller for Eagles Wings Ministries. He supervised all accounting and financial functions of the organization. Jake has strong public speaking skills and provides outsourced accounting functions to a number of nonprofit organizations. His clients have included Girl Scout Council of the Nation’s Capital, International Consortium of Investigative Journalists, PEAK Grantmaking, W. Haywood Burns Institute, American Society of Human Genetics, Propane Education Research Council, and Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology.

Jake is a licensed CPA in the state of Virginia and the District of Columbia and holds a Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com.) in Accounting from the University of Virginia, as well as an MS in Theology/Theological Studies from the National Bible College & Seminary.
