WASHINGTON – The Asian & Pacific Islander American Health Forum (APIAHF) issued the following statement celebrating the historic swearing-in of Congresswoman Deb Haaland as the first Native American to serve as a Cabinet Secretary.

“We congratulate Secretary Deb Haaland on her historic swearing-in to lead the Interior Department,” said Juliet K. Choi, APIAHF president and CEO. “Secretary Haaland has been an active voice, advocating for people of color, including Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians and Pacific Islanders, and we are thrilled to see her represent often overlooked and underserved communities at the highest levels of government.”
