WASHINGTON – The Asian & Pacific Islander American Health Forum (APIAHF) issued the following statement following the swearing-in of Dr. Vivek Murthy as U.S. Surgeon General.
“We congratulate Dr. Murthy on his swearing-in to return as U.S. Surgeon General,” said Juliet K. Choi, APIAHF president and CEO. “Dr. Murthy has been a long-time advocate for Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, Pacific Islanders and underserved communities. As COVID-19 has exacerbated health disparities for communities of color, we look forward to continuing our work with Dr. Murthy to make sure all communities, Black, Indigenous, Latinx, LGBTQ, Disability, Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander, will receive equitable care and resources in our nation’s COVID-19 response.”
