WASHINGTON – Juliet K. Choi, president and CEO of the Asian & Pacific Islander American Health Forum (APIAHF) issued the following statement in response to the passage and signing of the $1 trillion Bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act.

“By strengthening our transportation infrastructure and promoting economic recovery, this historic act serves as a critical investment in revitalizing communities and ultimately, in improving the health of AA NH/PI and other underserved communities. Improvements in our public transit systems will enhance the mobility and livelihood of our communities that are most likely to rely on public transportation for their needs. More affordable and accessible broadband internet use will positively impact health equity in underserved and underrepresented communities by creating increased access to information and resources on health and healthcare services. By promoting cleaner air and water, this legislation will also result in overall improved health outcomes for all.

“APIAHF applauds this pivotal investment in our future and looks forward to the passage of the Build Back Better Act, which will further enhance our social infrastructure by investing directly in healthcare needs as well as long-needed immigration reforms.”
