WASHINGTON – Today, the Senate voted to confirm Judge Brett Kavanaugh to the U.S. Supreme Court after three sexual assault allegations were made against him, including extensive testimony by Dr. Christine Blasey Ford. Kathy Ko Chin, president and CEO of the Asian & Pacific Islander American Health Forum issued the following statement.

“The past few weeks have brought indelible pain and grief to our nation, particularly for far too many survivors of sexual assault and violence. It revealed a polarization in our nation that was deepened further by the fact that many of our policymakers simply do not care. We must believe survivors and give space to anyone impacted by violence to tell their stories.

As a fellow American, I am shocked at the disregard for the lived experiences that so many in our country know. As a health justice advocate, I am emboldened in my belief that people need to speak out, tell their stories and vote. We can heal through our civic engagement, to build a society guided by our principles and values.”
