The 2019 Public Charge Final Rule continues to have a chilling effect for immigrant families trying to access health care, even when much of the rule is no longer in effect.
To address these concerns, the US Department of Homeland Security and US Citizenship and Immigration Services recently sought comment for its new proposed public charge rule. APIAHF submitted comment letter discussing the impact of the 2019 Public Charge Final Rule, recommendations on how to outreach to impacted communities, and recommendations on how to improve the proposed rule.
