Project Goal

Improve access to higher education for Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander (NHPI) children and families in Southern California by 1) Increasing the number of NHPI emerging leaders who will become advocates for educational equity in higher education for NHPI students, and 2) Increasing institutional and systemic involvement in addressing educational disparities for NHPI students.

Communities Served and Milestones

Communities Served: Native Hawaiians and Pacific Islanders
Milestones:
* Pacific Islander Leaders of Tomorrow (PILOT) training curriculum development
* Recruited and trained 25 NHPI professionals to serve as mentors
* Completed 4 PILOT cohorts total of 57-students

Implementation

  • Develop and implement PILOT curriculum
  • Recruit college student participants for PILOT program
  • Recruit and train 25 NHPI professionals to serve as mentors
  • Develop and disseminate NHPI Access to Higher Education Resources
  • Establish a Southern California College Student Network
