The Asian & Pacific Islander American Health Forum (APIAHF), joined by five national Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) organizations, submitted comments to the Senate Finance Committee urging policymakers to strengthen access to affordable, comprehensive health coverage. The organizations called for streamlining enrollment and renewal processes to reduce unnecessary administrative barriers, reinvesting in independent consumer assistance programs such as the Affordable Care Act (ACA) Navigator program, and strengthening language access for individuals with limited English proficiency. The letter highlights how complex enrollment requirements, procedural disenrollment, prior authorization delays, and insufficient assistance can disrupt coverage and access to care, particularly for AANHPI communities. APIAHF and its partners urge the Committee to modernize insurance affordability programs through technology-driven renewals, sustained enrollment assistance, and culturally and linguistically appropriate services so that eligible individuals can maintain coverage and access care when they need it.
