Obesity is a chronic disease characterized by excess or abnormal body fat that inhibits health and social well-being, which can result from a number of factors ranging from genetic, environmental, behavioral, social, cultural, and more. Obesity is understudied in Asian Americans (AA) as well as in Native Hawaiians or Pacific Islanders (NHPI). View this fact sheet for more information on obesity in the AA and NHPI communities, including causes, prevention, and recommendations.
