WASHINGTON—Today, Juliet K. Choi, chief executive officer of the Asian & Pacific Islander American Health Forum (APIAHF) released the following statement on the inauguration of President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris:

“We offer President Biden and Vice President Harris our congratulations on their swearing-in this morning. Vice President Harris’ swearing-in as the first Asian American, Black and Female Vice President is a historical chapter in our country’s narrative and especially meaningful to the mosaic of our Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander community.

We are elated to see that the path forward to build back better has already begun, as President Biden signs executive actions that reverse discriminatory and harmful rules and policies that have hurt underrepresented and underserved communities. We look forward to collectively celebrating and uplifting the diversity and resiliency of our community and cultural voice.

APIAHF is looking forward to working with the new administration on issues affecting our community, especially in the midst of a global pandemic, and advancing the principles of health and racial equity.”
