WASHINGTON – Today, President Biden signed the Inflation Reduction Act into law, which includes significant health care provisions that strengthen the protections established by the Affordable Care Act. Among the health provisions, the law extends the ACA tax credit on marketplace health plans and allows the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services to negotiate prescription drug pricing.

Juliet K. Choi, president and CEO of the Asian & Pacific Islander American Health Forum (APIAHF) released the following statement:

“Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander families face significant barriers to health care that were only exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic. The Inflation Reduction Act will allow AA and NHPI families and elders to worry less about the high costs of insurance premiums and medication. For many, this means worrying less about choosing between paying for food or medicine. This law could not have come at a better time.

“APIAHF applauds the signing of the Inflation Reduction Act into law and making healthcare more accessible and affordable for more Americans.”
